Jovial Foods Inc., home to the Jovial and Bionaturae brands, has an organic first mission. They work with small family farms and artisan manufacturers throughout Italy to bring the cleanest products possible to market.

For Bionaturae, that means more than just selling food – it’s about inviting people to experience authentic Italian cuisine in a way that combines tradition, sustainability, and flavor. Their target audience is simple: anyone who loves good food, family, and traditions. Or, as the team likes to say, “welcome to our big Italian table”.

We sat down with Allison Houle, the Vice President of Marketing at Jovial Foods Inc., to hear firsthand about her experience working with Social Nature.

What challenges was Bionaturae facing before Social Nature, and how did our platform help?

Allison: We had two big category launches, Bionaturae Pasta Sauce and Sourdough Pasta, hitting Whole Foods shelves at the same time and needed to find a way to drive consumers to the shelf and increase our sales velocities right out of the gate. Social Nature not only helped us reach the right consumers and drive in-store scans, but also enabled us to gain immediate pre- and post-trial consumer insights.

How did Social Nature help Bionaturae achieve positive retail results?

Allison: Social Nature was instrumental in executing two successful product launches at a key retailer. These campaigns were only available to Whole Foods shoppers, so the results and sales lift were evident immediately. We have also successfully used some of the data in buyer meetings, particularly regarding where consumers would prefer to buy our products in the future!

What were some of the key insights you gained from working with the Social Nature community?

Allison: This campaign really helped bring to light what people loved about our products, especially when compared to their current brand! This valuable feedback helped fuel our messaging for other digital marketing tactics, like paid ads.

How does Social Nature stand out from other shopper marketing platforms you've used?

Allison: Social Nature not only helps drive trial and increase velocities, but also provides invaluable consumer insights about our products, including taste, packaging, overall experience, and future purchase intent. The dashboard and consumer insights are really a cut above many other shopper marketing platforms.

If you had to choose one thing, what would you say was the biggest impact of working with Social Nature?

Allison: Social Nature really helps your brand get into shoppers’ baskets. We found that almost 95% of consumers were new to our brand, so without Social Nature’s help, we would not have been able to reach these consumers so efficiently and effectively.

What was your experience like working with the Social Nature team?

Allison: The Social Nature team (shoutout to Leslie and Sarah!) is amazing! They are super responsive, proactively communicative, and always have your best interests at heart. They don’t try to oversell a program for the sake of selling. They take the time to truly understand your brand, your target consumer, and your goals, and then provide strategic recommendations on how to achieve them.

Allison: Absolutely! Social Nature is really a one-stop shop that helps not only to drive trial with the right shoppers in the right retailers, but also to gather real-time consumer insights that can help you make informed decisions about product development, marketing, and pricing in the future.
